The reason I haven’t told you what I’m doing is because I have intimacy problems.
A symptom of modern life is having intimacy problems. Instead of 10 good friends I have several hundred fairly good friends and several thousand non-intimate friends. So if I haven’t told you what I’m up to, no offense. I love you, and I would tell you all of this personally if I could possibly call all hundred of my friends and tell them.
I’m going away! But not for too long…
I’m doing an extended road show for Gangly Sister. In case you don’t know about Gangly Sister, it’s all about getting more girls into tech through online games, community, and video. You can see our first video at www.ganglysister.com
The audience, for starters, is North America, so I am doing a road show in the States for about 4 months. July-August will be the New York/Philadelphia/Boston area and September-October will be Silicon Valley.
Then I’ll come back home to Israel. I’d probably stay longer (and I might if it makes sense), but I have these offspring and I feel out-of-sorts if I stay away from them too long. Another intimacy problem, I suppose.
Please help me succeed!
Please help by introducing me to any of the following people:
- Anyone involved in women in STEM (science, technology, engineering & mathematics).
- Women entrepreneurs and women in tech.
- People in the games and video industry with an interest in changing the way girls are portrayed in the media. \
I promise that if you introduce me to your friends, I will be funny, classy, generous and just generally someone they’re glad to have met.
My email: rebecca@ganglysister.com
My US Phone: +1 (718) 717-2717
The goals of my road trip are:
- Raise an investment for Gangly Sister.
- Raise awareness and get more fans for Gangly Sister.
- Contribute to female entrepreneurs I meet, whether by mentoring, giving workshops and talks, or just by encouraging them.
You’re invited! Let’s have a drink together!
How could I possibly go away without meeting you for a drink? If you are in Israel, you are invited for drinks tomorrow, Tuesday, June 24th at the Temple Bar in G Mall in Kfar Saba.
If you are in the US, let’s definitely meet for a drink! Please let me know your location and schedule and let’s meet up!
Isn’t this just a little crazy?
I don’t know how all of this happened. At some moment in time, the idea of spending some time in the States became the dominant idea at Gangly Sister. It’s crucial to understand the target market, and immersion seemed to be the smartest way to do that.
Plus, there’s the mission statement about inspiring women to become entrepreneurs. To be successful almost always means going beyond your comfort zone.
If my mission is to make women into successful entrepreneurs, I need to be that myself, and do whatever it takes to succeed. I’m fortunate to have a family who is supportive. It’s not always easy to pursue your dreams, but having supportive friends and family sure makes it much easier!
Thanks so much for your support and well-wishes. So many people have been making introductions, wishing me well, and just generally telling me what I’m doing is great. Your friendship makes a huge difference. In this world, we can’t achieve much of anything on our own. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart for all that, for reading this and for thinking to yourself “good luck” even if you don’t have time to say it out loud.
Yay!
