We wrote our own comic book. Three of them, actually. We thought it was a lot more interesting to solve real problems than to read about princesses and fashion, so we wrote about that. We thought parents would like it better, too.
In the pilot video by Gangly Sister, shown below, we found out that lots of kids want to see stories about how to solve real problems like helping a friend stay awake in class, stopping bullies, and helping people who have no running water or electricity. You can get the comic now if you or your kids want to read comics where real kids solve real problems with real technology, science and inventions. I mean, we don’t really solve all the problems but we have a good time. .

Kids media influences the future.
We want our girls respected for their smarts and strength, but we bombard them with images of women valued for their sweetness or sensuality. Did you know that in children’s programming, fewer than 25% of the characters are female? We bet you did know that most of those characters are either props or tokens in male-dominated media, or driven mainly by their desire to get a boy to fall in love with them.
If we want media that reflects who we are, who we want to be, and who we want our girls to be, we ladies are just going to have to do it ourselves.
